TPM|MSNBC - Private Security Surge in Afghanistan


Basically, this was something a lot of people predicted in the lead up to a troop withdrawal. When the President announces that America's soldiers will come back home from war, people will be thankful for what appears on the surface to be an end to the war in the Middle East, when in reality the war will be taken over by private military groups staying there to ensure the corporations that sought to initiate and profit from this war are protected. Most people won't be aware of it because the cover story of American soldiers coming home will keep them pacified.

One year into his Presidency, pressure continues to fill the air around Obama.
Is it unreasonable for people to expect significant change this early into his presidency? It depends on who you ask, and what they'd like to see different.
Obama's popularity has dropped in recent months, and it's pretty understandable why regardless of whether you voted for him or not.
